Teleworking FAQs

  1. I have been working from home one or more days per week with an approved teleworking agreement. Do I need to stop doing that?
    • For the time being, you may continue to work in accordance with your approved teleworking agreement, if approved by your supervisor. Very soon, these agreements will be reviewed, and practices will align with our objective of optimizing physical presence.
  2. I occasionally work from home, but not on a recurring schedule and I do not have a teleworking agreement. Can I continue to do that?
    • Supervisors may still approve occasional remote work to allow an employee to balance work commitments and personal obligations. This approval will be limited (must be less often than once/month), and not a regular teleworking schedule.
  3. My position requires that I am at off-site locations to do my job. Is this considered teleworking?
    • If your position requires continuous travel, this is different than teleworking. Your work location is determined by where you are required to be geographically and may not be an assigned campus location.
  4. I have an agreement with my supervisor to work a flexible schedule that is different from the announced business hours. Can I keep working that schedule?
    • All offices must be fully staffed during the University’s stated business hours. Alternative work schedules (flex time) may be considered by supervisors when feasible for the department and position.
  5. I have been working from home for some time and no longer have an assigned office space on campus. If I am no longer teleworking, where would I work?
    • Office assignments will be reviewed and assigned by each department. Division Heads/Unit Leaders will be provided further guidance on reporting any space challenges.
  6. My doctor has advised that I should work from home to better manage a diagnosed condition. Do I have to come back to the office?
    • Employees seeking accommodations for qualifying medical conditions under the Americans with Disabilities Act should submit a reasonable accommodation request for review to Human Resources. Accommodation requests may be submitted here: Request an ADA Accommodation.
  7. Are Winter Break hours changing?
    • No changes are planned for the Winter Break schedule, which is posted on the Holiday Schedule
