Health Informatics and Administration (B.S.)
The Bachelor of Science with a major in Health Informatics and Administration builds on a solid foundation of two years of liberal arts and science as prerequisites followed by two years immersion in healthcare services and healthcare informatics courses. The program prepares graduates to assume positions in a variety of healthcare settings performing complex tasks related to healthcare informatics in support of clinical and administrative functions.
Healthcare informatics professionals act as the bridge between highly technical information technology staff and healthcare professionals, including doctors and nurses. There is a strong current need for healthcare informatics professionals with potential for prolonged future growth. Students will gain the knowledge and skills needed to manage the relationships between people and healthcare information systems. Graduates of this program will work as members of interdisciplinary healthcare teams in order to facilitate provision of safe, effective, high-quality healthcare using the latest technology tools.

The HSIA industry is multi-faceted. The Health Informatics and Administration program is a
highly versatile degree that addresses the combined clinical, technical, and business needs of health-related professionals. Students gain knowledge of how technology, people, health, and the healthcare system interrelate. In addition, they develop the ability to use technology and information management to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes.
- Flexible Online Classes and Senior Capstone. The Health Informatics and Administration program is offered entirely online. The online learning platform makes it easy to work anywhere at any time. In their senior year, students will step anyway from the computer in order to apply the skills from a variety of courses in data management, analytics, and leadership to complete a Capstone project/Applied Learning Experience in previously chosen concentration area.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the field of health informatics is estimated to grow at a rate as high as 21%, which is 7% higher than the average rate of job growth. This will provide for approximately 50,000 new jobs just in the next few years alone. And it’s not just the number of jobs that is growing, but also the variety of the positions and specialties available.
