Le Belle Voci to perform at state convention

    February 17, 2020
UNG's Le Belle Voci has been selected to perform June 15 at the annual state convention of the Georgia Choral Directors Association.

For the first time since establishing Le Belle Voci in 2001 at the University of North Georgia (UNG), Dr. John Broman submitted an audition tape of the women's ensemble to the Georgia Choral Directors Association (Ga-ACDA).

The nonprofit professional organization for choral directors responded by selecting UNG's Le Belle Voci to perform at 7:30 p.m. June 15 at its annual state convention at Spivey Hall at Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia.

"It is a very prestigious honor," said Broman, professor of music and director of choral activities at UNG. "It is a huge deal for the singers and the school."

Haley Dover, a senior pursuing a degree in music, cried when Broman told them the news.

"I know we auditioned with a whole bunch of other colleges," said the 22-year-old from Gainesville, Georgia. "They picked us, which was amazing to me."

Broman explained the Le Belle Voci vocalists and UNG's choral program will be exposed to choral directors from colleges and universities from all across Georgia.

"This will also be an opportunity for them to sing in one of the premiere performance halls in the state," he said.

Le Belle Voci features 15 to 20 UNG students and a few community members. Each singer goes through a rigorous audition process, must sight-read music and has previous singing experience. The group rehearses twice a week and receives one hour of college credit.
