Albion General Contractors (GC), a Sandy Springs-based construction company, has committed to a $25,000 endowment that will provide scholarships to UNG students with a financial need.

"We value the leadership demonstrated by Albion GC during this pandemic. Brian Newsome and the team at Albion GC immediately thought about how they could help our students and their families," said Jeff Tarnowski, vice president of advancement for UNG. "Knowing there would be a need for financial assistance, Albion GC stepped up to help by financially supporting our Enrollment Management COVID-19 scholarship efforts and ensured ongoing support for years to come by creating and endowing the Albion Achievement Scholarship Fund. We are grateful for their dedication to advancing and improving the lives of our students."

Brian Newsome, co-founder and executive vice president of Albion GC, said his company wanted a way to give back during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"It has been heartbreaking to witness the impact this year has had on university students. In exploring ways to positively support those students, we created the Albion Achievement Scholarship," Newsome said. "This endowed scholarship is an investment in the futures of UNG students to allow them to worry less about their finances and focus more on achieving college completion."
