Student Impact Initiatives (SII)

SII reflects deep commitment to expanding access to higher education and enhancing student success across our campuses especially focusing on increasing enrollment, retention, and graduation rates among first-generation students, Hispanic students, veteran students, and adult learners.

Each of these groups are of strategic importance to UNG’s legacy, our region, and our mission to serve the state of Georgia.

Our Mission

The Department of Student Impact Initiatives (SII) is dedicated to ensuring that every student has access to a truly transformative educational experience. We empower students to achieve their academic and personal goals by facilitating their belonging, cultivating their purpose, and building their resilience. Through student-centered programs and strategic partnerships, SII advances UNG’s enrollment and retention priorities, providing the resources and relationships students need to thrive. We believe in the profound IMPACT of a college education, not only on students, but on their families and communities.

Our Vision

SII will be a catalyst for personal and academic growth by connecting students to meaningful mentorship, engagement, and community experiences that inspire them to discover and fulfill their purpose in college and beyond.

What We Do

Guided by the Four Pillars of Student Success, Academic Achievement, Sense of Purpose, Belonging & Engagement, and Well-Being, we strive to create a meaningful and impactful experience for every UNG student. Our initiatives provide targeted support that promotes academic success, personal growth, and career exploration.

Mentorship is at the heart of SII. Research consistently shows that students engaged in mentoring relationships develop a stronger sense of belonging and achieve higher academic outcomes. That’s why we’re building a centralized hub for mentorship at UNG, a place where students can access guidance, encouragement, and community through structured programs and activities.
