UNG ID Card Photo Submission

Submitting the Perfect ID Card Picture Do's and Don'ts

Photo Submission Criteria

  • Take a new photo.
  • Make sure it is a clear, good-quality photo.
  • Use good lighting. Photos that are dark, overexposed, or show glare on glasses will not be accepted.
  • Needs to have a plain, solid white, off-white or light blue background. (NO patterns, textures, or scenic backgrounds)
  • Centered, full face view with a neutral facial expression or a natural smile.

Do

  • Use a color photo in a jpg format
  • Make sure your eyes are open and visible
  • Crop the image to just above the top of head to middle of the chest

Examples of photos that will be approved.

Don't

  • Group photos or pictures with pets
  • Sunglasses, hats or anything that obstructs the face
  • Tilted heads, selfies, and glamour shots
  • Comical photos or photos with gestures
  • Backgrounds that are not plain/solid white, off-white or light blue
  • Low-quality or dark images
  • Social media filters
     

*Photos that are inappropriate will be reviewed by the Dean of Students.  University of North Georgia Card Services reserves the right to refuse any photos that do not meet these requirements.  Failure to adhere to photo submission guidelines is subject to appropriate University action as deemed necessary.

Students Attending Orientation

Steps for Uploading Photo:

Upload photo here!

Login with your UNG username and password.

Select Profile and submit your photo.  You will be able to take a photo or choose an existing photo to upload.  Please submit photo 3 days prior to orientation.

You will be notified via email, within two business days, if your photo was accepted or rejected. 

*ID cards can only be picked up by the student during assigned orientation or afterwards.

Students NOT Attending Orientation

Login with your UNG username and password.

Select Profile and submit your photo. You will be able to take a photo or choose an existing photo to upload. 

You will be notified via email, within two business days, if your photo was accepted or rejected.

*Your ID can be requested at any Card Services location.  You will need to bring a Photo ID to pick up your Nighthawks Card.  There may be a charge for a replacement ID card of $25.00.

Blue Ridge Students

ALL Blue Ridge Students must submit a online photo to receive their UNG Nighthawks ID Card.

Login with your UNG username and password.

Select Profile and submit your photo. You will be able to take a photo or choose an existing photo to upload. 
You will be notified via email, within two business days, if your photo was accepted or rejected.

After you has received the approval email that the photo was accepted you must email card-dah@ung.edu and request your Nighthawks card be printed and mailed to the Blue Ridge campus. Inter-campus mail is only delivered once a week please plan accordingly. Dahlonega Card Services will respond to the request to let the you know when your card has been mailed and the estimated arrival date to the Blue Ridge campus. 

Students will pick up their card from the Blue Ridge Campus Information Desk, you will need to sign a Nighthawks Card Agreement and bring a school, state, or federal photo ID for verification. There may be $25.00 fee if it is a replacement card.

Photo Tips

  1. If you have a problem submitting a photo cropped from a larger photo, you may need to retake your photo in a smaller size or use a different photo editing tool.
  2. If you are having background issues, make sure you are using a plain, solid white, off-white or light blue wall. Doors or walls with paneling will not be accepted.  Try using poster board as a background option.
  3. Photos taken with a cell phone may require better lighting.

 

* Important: You must know your UNG ID number or you will NOT be able to pick up your ID card. Please remember to bring a valid government issued photo identification card to obtain your new UNG ID card.  (Either U.S. Driver’s License issued by DMV, Security/ U.S. Green Card, Passport book or U.S. Military ID Card.  Note: Driver’s License’s stamped “void” and Passport cards are unable to be accepted per Homeland Security.)
