4.1.5 Degree Home Page Template

Based on research and user input, UNG is now implementing specialized degree pages for each degree offered at our university. The basic required information for a degree page is listed and explained below. If a particular item does not apply to your degree, it may be skipped.  Items in the expandables area can also be customized to fit the needs of the particular degree.

Large Impact Image or Random Image from Set

Choose an image that shows a hands-on application of the degree. Use people who work in this degree area and students who study it - no clip art showing non-UNG people. A photo shoot can also be considered. You can also choose to have an image from a pre-selected group randomly inserted here each time the page is published.

Degree Description

A brief paragraph of conversational and audience focused text that speaks to ‘You’. What does the degree offer students, in way of faculty, experiences, etc… that sets  it apart from its competitors? Avoid institutional slang and acronyms. Seed the paragraph with those words you think people will search with to find the degree page. Approximate size: 600 characters

Clear Calls to Action

What do you want prospective students to do once they are on the home page? Give site visitors a clear path to the actions you want them to complete and/or the key information you want them to find. Especially important for mobile viewers. Note: Remember to use Plan of Study (not Degree Plan) and Course Planning Guide (not Degree Map.)

Admissions Information

Overview of any special admission requirements for the degree. If needed, have a special page with full details. This section should also contain a link to Undergraduate or Graduate Admissions, as appropriate. If no special requirements, use: “There are no special admission requirements for this degree. Read more about UNG Undergraduate/Graduate Admissions [link to site] “

Internship Information

If the degree program offers or includes internships, create an overview paragraph of the opportunities available. Consider creating a page for just this information, if there is a lot of it.

What can you do with a career in XYZ?

A paragraph of the types of careers a student can undertake with this degree. What salaries can they expect? What is job placement average? Etc… Review the information under the Areas of Study in the UNG Degrees & Programs listing for ideas or contact Academic Advising for help with this content.

Study Abroad Opportunities

If this degree offers study abroad opportunities, provide an overview paragraph of the opportunities available. If needed, create a special page with full details.

Service Learning / Leadership / Community Interaction Opportunities

If the degree offers these sort of opportunities for students, let’s advertise it! If needed, create a special page with full details.
