Maggie Segnitz, the Executive Director of Academic Advising at UNG. Maggie has been advising students at the university for many years in a variety of majors and has held various roles. She started as a pre-nursing advisor at the Gainesville campus, where she worked with a co-advisor and the Nursing department to launch the QEP. Later, she became the Coordinator of Advisor Training and developed the current advisor training program still in use today. In 2019, she became the Assistant Director of Academic Advising at the Gainesville campus and worked closely with the Gainesville Advising team for four years.
Maggie is passionate about expanding UNG transfer student services and advisor development opportunities. She completed her Doctorate in Education from UNG’s Higher Education Leadership and Practice program in 2023, and her dissertation examined how academic advisors are trained and developed to support transfer students, blending her two passions.
When she's not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, James, her daughter, Olivia, and her three adorable dachshunds, Reese, Shelby, and Piper. Maggie is originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and loves watching Chiefs football.
