    Degree Works

DegreeWorks is a degree audit program and academic advising tool designed to assist students and advisors in reviewing degree program progress. A web-based program, DegreeWorks re-organizes a student’s transcript chronologically and categorically, easily identifying courses/requirements that have been completed and courses/requirements still needed in order to complete a degree program for graduation.

    DegreeWorks FAQs

    • What are the benefits in using DegreeWorks?
      DegreeWorks will help you:
      • Determine what requirements you need to fulfill in order to complete your degree program.
      • View individual course grades and overall grade-point average (GPA).
      • Determine which courses you have taken or transferred, and which ones count as electives.
      • View transfer credits applied toward your degree.
      • See how your coursework could be applied toward another degree program using the What-If option.
      • Estimate how many semesters it will take you to graduate.
    • When are students added to the DegreeWorks database?

Students are added to DegreeWorks at the point of enrollment/matriculation, not acceptance to UNG.

    • What if information in DegreeWorks isn't up to date?

There could be many reasons that information in DegreeWorks is not up to date. One is that DegreeWorks may not have been refreshed since a change was made (information is refreshed nightly from Banner) to a student record. Second, there could be some paperwork that must be completed. For example, if a grade change is pending, it is possible the form has not reached the Registrar's Office. Check with the Registrar's Office regarding information that may not be up to date.

    • What are exceptions that are sometimes listed on a student's DegreeWorks audit worksheet?

Exceptions are allowances made by the University of North Georgia that allow transfer credit or exemptions to be used in Core, Major, Minor, or Concentration requirement areas.

    • Why do exceptions tied to a student DegreeWorks audit worksheet disappear when I run a What-If scenario?

Exceptions are tied only to the student's current degree program and/or major. The What-If function temporarily changes the current degree/major causing the exceptions to become “unhooked” from the student's worksheet. Advisors and students should be aware of the “unhooked” courses when planning a degree/major change.

    • Are the changes I make in DegreeWorks (i.e. What-If major change) permanent?

No. DegreeWorks information comes directly from Banner. Changes made within the DegreeWorks program,
such as a major change using the What-If function, are temporary. The student worksheet returns to its last
updated settings after each access. All information in DegreeWorks is updated nightly from the student's Banner account.

    • Why is there no DegreeWorks audit showing for some students?

There may be several reasons why a student does not have a DegreeWorks audit. If the student ID number
shows no student data exists in DegreeWorks that means the student has not registered for classes at UNG.
Additionally students with a catalog year prior to 2013 will not exist in DegreeWorks and should see their
      advisor.

    • What do the symbols represent on the audit?

      Course Codes:

      • *Course has prerequisite(s)

      Grade Codes:

      • IP Registered/In Progress
      • # Academic Renewal Granted
      • % Learning Support Course
