What does it mean to be a “Transient Student”?
If you are a current student seeking a degree with UNG and plan to attend another college or university to take a course/s to transfer back to UNG, you are considered a transient student at the other college/university.
Research the institution you are interested in to find out their application requirements for transient students. Most institutions will require a transient letter from UNG, which is requested through your Banner account. To be approved and issued a transient letter, you must be in good academic standing at UNG, have no outstanding Learning Support or ESL courses, and cannot have received Academic Renewal. You must communicate with your advisor to ensure that your course can be used within your degree at UNG.
To request your transient letter:
Our transient team will send your Transient Letter directly to the outside institution on your behalf.
Email transient@ung.edu and provide the following information:
Note: Allow up to one week for review.
When you have completed your transient coursework, you must request that an official transcript be sent from the outside institution to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Electronic requests must be sent to Undergraduate Admissions transcript server or admissions-gvl@ung.edu, regardless of your UNG campus designation.
Mailed transcripts can be sent to:
University of North Georgia - Undergraduate Admissions
P.O. Box 1358
Gainesville, GA 30503
Once your outside credits have been evaluated, you will receive an email to your UNG email account.
