Resource Library Policies

NOTE: The Resource Library is available to currently enrolled students and full-time, benefited faculty and staff members only.

Resource Library Rental Hours

Pick Ups

  • Thursday 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Friday 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.


  • Monday 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Pick ups and returns will occur either by a curbside appointment or in-person at the Outdoor Pursuits office, located near court one in the Recreation Center.


  • The North Georgia Outdoor Pursuits Program will take reservations for resources via the Resource Library Request Form, but cannot guarantee the resources will be available. Every effort will be made to fill the reservation.
  • The Resource Library Request Form must be completed by 5 p.m. one day prior to the date in which you wish to rent the resources. 
    • If you need to submit your request after the 5 p.m. one-day prior deadline, we will do our best to accommodate you; however, we cannot guarantee that your request will be fulfilled. Availability will be based upon how busy we are and our extensive COVID cleaning procedures.


  • No person may checkout more than $50 worth of material.
  • It is the responsibility of the renter to inspect any material for damages upon checkout. If the renter decides not to inspect the material prior to checkout, or if the North Georgia Outdoor Pursuits Staff is not informed of the damages before the material leaves the premises, it will be assumed that the renter caused any damages found upon return.


  • All material will need to be returned in the same state as it was rented.
  • Renters who are late to their scheduled return time will be charged a "late return fee" unless changes were communicated beforehand.
  • Due to COVID, renters will be given the option to be present for inspection.
    • If the renter chooses to be present, we will inspect on the spot.
    • If a renter chooses not to be present, we will inspect the returns and email the renter. If there are any damages or fees charged, it will be communicated in this email.
    • A verbal signature will be required for returns.
    • If fees are charged, renters have the option to dispute the charges they don't agree with whether they were present for the inspection or not.
  • Any lost material will be charged with the cost of replacement.
  • Any material requiring the cost of replacement must be returned to the North Georgia Outdoor Pursuits Staff. The damaged material must be returned on the predetermined return date. If it is not returned, all policies still apply. In any case, renters will not be allowed to keep the damaged material.
  • All fees are due by 5 p.m. one week from the issued date. A hold will be placed on the student’s Banner account if the fee is not paid. If the renter is a faculty or staff member, Resource Library privileges will be revoked until the fee is paid.
  • All fees and their respective due dates are subject to change at the discretion of the North Georgia Outdoor Pursuits Staff.


  • The renter assumes full responsibility for the material checked out and all its components and, upon request, agrees to pay for any incurred damages.
  • The renter is responsible for all lost or stolen material. The renter also assumes total liability for all damages incurred through the use or misuse of the material.
  • The North Georgia Outdoor Pursuits Program reserves the right to limit or revoke Resource Library privileges due to the abuse of the Resource Library Policies, unpaid fines, damaged material, unused reservations, etc.
  • The renter will not hold the staff of the North Georgia Outdoor Pursuits Program, Recreational Sports Department, or University of North Georgia responsible for any injury, sickness or accident incurred while utilizing the resources.

COVID Policies/Procedures for Equipment Rental

Note: Due to COVID, the rental process for this fall semester has been modified to account for extra safety and health concerns. The Outdoor Pursuits staff has worked diligently to continue providing you with a positive rental experience. To view the changes made, please review the additional policies and procedures.

COVID Cleaning

Upon return, the Outdoor Pursuits staff will clean the gear as best as possible following the steps below:

  1. Let material air out in the gym for a total of 72-hours 
  2. Thoroughly wipe down material with a proper cleaning agent.
  3. We will not rent out gear again until it has gone through this full cleaning cycle.

Pick-Up and Return Options

  • This fall we are allowing for curbside pick-ups and returns
    • There will be one designated parking spot on the top deck of the rec center.
    • Call Outdoor Pursuits at 706-867-2549 upon arrival and we will accommodate you promptly.
  • In addition to curbside we are still allowing for renters to come pick-up or return inside the rec; however, we are not providing walk-in rentals at this time.

Additional Notes

  • All fees will be paid virtually this year.
