Lead by Choice

The University of North Georgia’s Lead by Choice campaign is a campus wide-effort to reduce alcohol abuse. This campaign is made possible by the NCAA CHOICES alcohol education grant program, which encourages athletic departments to work with other campus departments to develop and implement successful alcohol education programs.

What Is the Goal of Lead by Choice?

The goal of the Lead by Choice campaign is to educate students about the unintended effects of alcohol use and to define the social norms surrounding college drinking behaviors. Lead by Choice is determined to make an impact on alcohol abuse on UNG campuses through four objectives.

  1. Create a Lead by Choice Task Force.
  2. Develop and implement a sustainable training program for student leaders.
  3. Expand educational and social programming around alcohol education by utilizing new and existing delivery methods.
  4. Assess current alcohol messaging and create strategic social norming efforts that reflect current needs.
