Communications Marine Specialties

How did you hear about your internship?

I found my internship through Handshake.

What has been the most valuable (or favorite) part of the experience?

The most valuable part of my internship has been the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in content creation while also understanding the strategy behind it. Throughout my time at Marine Specialties, I’ve been able to create social media posts, videos, blogs, and marketing materials that directly support real campaigns and events. This has helped me grow more confident in my creative abilities, especially when it comes to making decisions about messaging, visuals, and overall brand voice. I am very appreciative to not only be able to create a variety of content but to also be able to see the strategy behind the content. Using tools like HubSpot, BrightLocal, and Google Analytics showed me how data and strategy work together to guide decisions. I’ve learned that every piece of content has a purpose, and being able to connect creativity with measurable results has been incredibly valuable.

How will this help you in the future?

I’ve learned how to create strategic content, manage multiple projects, and use tools like HubSpot, BrightLocal, and Google Analytics to guide decisions. These are all skills that are directly applicable to the PR and marketing field. This experience has also helped me grow professionally. I’ve improved my communication, learned how to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment, and gained experience working on real campaigns with real deadlines. It’s also shown me the importance of combining creativity with strategy, which is something I will carry into any future role.

Moreover, it has allowed me to build professional relationships and gain insights into my own strengths and areas for growth. I have learned more about how I work best and identified the skills where I excel. This experience has also highlighted opportunities for further development, which will be instrumental as I continue to progress in my career.
