How did you hear about your internship?
A few years before I got this internship, I’d tried to set one up with the University’s public relations. The internship fell through, but my potential site supervisor liked me, and when I went looking again in my senior year, pointed me towards Cadet Recruiting due to my skillset and experience in the Corps of Cadets.
What has been the most valuable (or favorite) part of the experience?
The most valuable part of my experience with this internship has been the variety of work I’ve been encouraged to complete. I have been encouraged to try new techniques, experiment, and propose my own ideas for projects. My favorite part of this internship has been the camaraderie and friendship of everyone I’ve worked with. Everyone has been excited for me to work with them, helpful, and happy to talk about their positions, career advice, or just to have a friendly chat.
How will this help you in the future?Working as an intern for Cadet Recruiting has helped me gain a better understanding of how the corporate world works for many different types of jobs, given me new skills and knowledge applicable to my career, and given me multiple networking opportunities for the future. Finally, and most helpfully however, I have been told there is a marked interest in me joining as a full-time employee, which would be a great position to jump-start my career or continue my academics towards a master’s degree.
