    • Where is the Center for Language Education at University of North Georgia?

      The CLE is located in a quiet and safe town called Dahlonega, Georgia, which is one hour north of Atlanta.

    • How far is Dahlonega from an international airport?

      Dahlonega is approximately one hour from Atlanta’s international airport, one of the busiest airports in the world with direct flights to almost every major city in the world. 

    • Should I study in the CLE before I go to university?

      Yes! The CLE will allow you to enter the University of North Georgia (UNG) without taking a TOEFL, IELTS, or any other English language test. Another reason to attend the CLE is that it helps you prepare for the requirements and demands of university classes.

      While you may have an advanced level of English, you may difficulty in the university classroom due to not understanding the university culture and classroom demands as well as differences in requirements of assignments from your country. However, CLE students are prepared to be highly successful in university and maintain high grades: CLE-alumni maintain a G.P.A. (Grade Point Average) of 3.3/4.0 at UNG.

      In addition, the CLE’s English program assist you to adapt to university life prior to enrolling in university. This includes observing a university class and partnering with a UNG student to improve your communication skills and deeper understanding of American culture and university life. The CLE will also help you in the transition to university by assisting in the registration and enrollment process, as well as identifying many cultural and sporting student clubs available on the university campus. 

    • How much does it cost to attend the CLE?

      The total cost for attending the CLE is $10,300 per semester for 16-weeks. This cost includes tuition, health insurance, housing, food, cultural and historical field trips, airport pick-up and return, and other program-related expenses.

    • How long do I have to study in the CLE?

      The CLE offers an intermediate class and advanced class. The length of study depends on your English ability. International students typically require one or two semesters in the CLE to be ready for university level coursework.

    • How many students are in a class at the CLE?

      CLE classes are small – approximately ten students in each class – that provides you with many opportunities to interact with classmates and your instructors. Occasionally class size may be slightly larger or smaller, depending on student enrollment. 

    • What classes will I take in the CLE?

      There are many English classes in the CLE! Classes include speaking and listening, reading and writing, creativity and critical thinking, college skills, reading, English structure and grammar, and American culture. In addition, you will be partnered with an American student studying at UNG to develop your communication skills and learn more about American culture and university life. 

    • Where do I live while studying English in the CLE?

      Most CLE students live in the UNG dormitory and share a suite with another CLE student. The UNG suites are very modern, spacious, clean and comfortable. A benefit of living in the UNG suites is that you have the chance to interact with UNG students, make American friends, and adjust to university life in America. 

    • What will I eat at the CLE?

      The UNG Dining Hall is modern, expansive, and offers a wide range of meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can purchase a meal plan of 10, 15 or unlimited meals per week. Food served in the dining hall is buffet style. That means you can eat as much as you want from a selection of many dishes and options. The chefs and dieticians are available to accommodate food allergies, preferences, and special dietary needs in a way that’s personalized, sensitive and supportive.

    • What is special about UNG?

UNG is located in Dahlonega and cultivates a strong sense of community among students. 

    • What are the most popular majors among the international students at UNG?

      Some of the most popular majors at UNG among international students include business, computer science, nursing, physical therapy, accounting, and one of our dual-studies departments in the science and technology fields.

    • Are there a lot of international students at UNG?

      While international students at UNG are from more than 50 countries, the number of international students attending UNG are small. This provides an excellent environment for international students to study, advance their English and learn more about American culture.

    • Do I need to drive from one building to another?

      No. You do not need a car to commute from your dormitory to classes on the Dahlonega campus. You can easily walk from your dormitory to class. It is very easy to move from one side of the campus to the other. The CLE is located on the Dahlonega campus: a beautiful campus surrounded by nature within easy walking distance to campus buildings and local shops. UNG is one of the safest campuses in America.

    • What is the weather like in Dahlonega, GA?

      The weather in Dahlonega is generally mild. Winter is very short with little snow, but one will need a jacket or sweater when walking outdoors. Spring is beautiful with blossoming trees and colorful flowers. Summer is hot and humid – warm enough to swim and participate in any outdoor activity. 

    • Does the CLE offer any field trips?

      Yes! The CLE offers frequent cultural and historical field trips on most weekends to historical and cultural sites such as the World of Coca-Cola, the Martin Luther King Center, the Georgia Aquarium, Hiking, Fernbank Science Center and Museum, CNN, an Escape Room, regular shopping trips, and other places of interest.

    • Will anyone help me if I get sick?

      Yes. Student Health Services is located on the Dahlonega campus. Health insurance is included in the tuition for every student. A CLE staff or instructor will accompany each CLE student to the Student Health Services if they request assistance. 

    • How can I transition from the CLE to University of North Georgia?

      A CLE administrator will assist each CLE student in their application and registration for UNG courses. The CLE will provide a seamless application and transition to UNG for each CLE student.

      CLE students must meet all other traditional freshman (graduated from high school less than five years ago) or traditional freshman transfer applicants (graduated from high school less than five years ago and have less than 30 transferable college hours), submit official SAT or ACT test scores, and meet traditional freshman criteria (UNG international student admission).

    • Can I transfer to another university from the University of North Georgia?

      Yes. If you attend UNG, you can transfer to another university after completing one or two years at UNG. UNG has direct programs with regional universities such as the University of Georgia, Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), and other universities in Georgia. It is also possible to transfer to another university in the USA.
