GIL Express Video

Transcript Begins

Is there a book you want that isn’t available from the University of North Georgia Libraries? You still may be able to get it.
In the GIL-Find catalog, just enter your search terms and change the search scope from UNG to the University System of Georgia.
Make sure that you are signed in. After Selecting Sign In, and UNG Students & Faculty, you should enter your UNG username and password, the same ones you use to access your university email.
Now that you’ve signed into your account, Go to your results list and click on the words Get It.
Then select More Libraries.
If the item is available for check out, you will see a green dot. Then select one of the USG libraries listed. If there’s only one library listed, select that.
Then look for “Request Options” and click on the hyperlinked word Request.
You will be asked to select your Pickup Institution. You will usually choose the University of North Georgia.
You must also select your pickup library. Then click on the orange Request button.
You can go into My Account and click Requests to see if your request has been accepted. If so, you will see the words “In Process.” When you borrow from other USG libraries, you can check on the status of the loan and due date by selecting the name of the institution that lent you the book. You’ll find those names listed in the column on the left side of the page.
When the item arrives via GIL-Express you will receive a notification in your UNG email account.
Bring your Nighthawks ID card to the Information Desk and let the person there know you have an item on the Hold Shelf.
Requested items usually take 3-5 business days to arrive. Please note, most USG libraries will not lend items from their Reference, Reserve, DVD or eBook collections.
To learn more about borrowing information resources from other libraries, go to the UNG Libraries homepage. On the left side of the page move your cursor over Research Help. Then select Borrowing from Other Libraries.
