Prerequisite Mathematics Information
Students can take a variety of classes as part of their impactS Math course. The course decision is based on the student’s major, placement information, and the prerequisites for the course. Certain majors require higher levels of math in the Core or as prerequisites for future classes.

This course is an alternative in the Mathematics area of the Core IMPACTS and is not intended to supply sufficient algebraic background for students who intend to take Precalculus or the calculus sequences for mathematics and science majors. This course places quantitative skills and reasoning in the context of experiences that students will be likely to encounter. It emphasizes processing information in context from a variety of representations, understanding of both the information and the processing, and understanding which conclusions can be reasonably determined.

Prerequisite: An Accuplacer Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics score of 258 or higher, MATH 1001 with a grade of D or higher; any Core IMPACTS Mathematics course or MATH 1401 with a grade of C or higher, old SAT Math score of 440 or higher, new SAT Math Section score of 480 or higher, ACT Math score of 17 or higher, MPI of 1175 or higher; or beginning Spring 2024, a high school GPA of 3.1 or higher

This course is an introduction to mathematical modeling using graphical, numerical, symbolic, and verbal techniques to describe and explore real world data and phenomena. Emphasis is on the use of elementary functions to investigate and analyze applied problems and questions, supported by the use of appropriate technology and on effective communication of quantitative concepts and results.

Prerequisite: Accuplacer Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics score of 258 or higher, any Core IMPACTS Mathematics course or MATH 1401 with a grade of C or higher, previous MATH 1101 grade of D or higher; old SAT Math score of 440 or higher, new SAT Math Section score of 480 or higher, ACT Math score of 17 or higher, MPI of 1175 or higher; or beginning Spring 2024, a high school GPA of 3.1 or higher

Topics include algebraic and absolute value equations and inequalities; piece-wise defined, polynomial, rational, exponential and logarithmic functions with their graphs and applications; and systems of equations. This course is designed to prepare students for MATH 1113 or MATH 2040. Students in majors that do not require these courses are encouraged to take MATH 1001 or MATH 1101.

An intensive course that focuses on applications of the functions, concepts, and methods necessary for success in calculus. Topics include exponential and logarithmic functions, trigonometric and inverse trigonometric functions, trigonometric identities and equations, right and oblique triangles, and complex numbers.

An introduction to differential calculus. Topics include limits, differentiation of algebraic and trigonometric functions, applications of derivatives, antidifferentiation, simple differential equations, the area under a curve, the fundamental theorem of calculus, and differentiation and integration of exponential and logarithmic functions.

UNG offers placement exams for Math courses.
If you need MATH 1111 for your degree program and you do not meet the eligibility requirements for MATH 1111, but you do meet the requirements for MATH 1001 or MATH 110, you may:- Take MATH 1111 along with a three-credit co-requisite Support class (MATH 1111 plus MATH 0999 – Support for College Algebra). This co-requisite math is offered in distinct pairs, and both math classes are worth three credit hours toward enrollment hours. This option allows you to be in the appropriate math for your major in your first semester.
- Take MATH 1001 or 1101. If you earn a C or higher, you will qualify for MATH 1111 the following semester!
