Faculty/Staff FAQs

(Dahlonega Campus) Why does my package come straight to my office sometimes, but other times we have to pick it up?

Parcels coming to the university through USPS are picked up by our postal clerks at the post office. Depending on the set up of your department, that may mean you pick it up here at the office. FedEx and UPS are dropped off in Logistical Services, then delivered to you.

(Dahlonega Campus) Will my package arrive through Logistics or the Post Office?

You can determine the carrier by looking at the tracking number. The carrier determines which department receives it (see question above). If your tracking number starts with a “1Z,” then it is UPS. If it starts with a "9," then it is USPS. Any other number could be USPS, FedEx or DHL.

How long will it take my item to get from my campus to another?

This chart was created in an effort to help you better estimate how long your mail should take to get from campus to campus.

*Please note that all of these are estimates and are based on the mail arriving to our Dahlonega or Gainesville central offices before the relevant routes occur.

Chart detailing the length of time it takes to get mail from one campus to another.

All on-campus deliveries are not estimated, as times are typically same day, but that varies widely based on your department and the campus delivery schedule.

*Blue Ridge - Assuming outgoing mail placed in outgoing mail by Wednesday before 11 a.m.

**Due to the nature of the Cumming/Dahlonega/Gainesville route, the number of days depend upon the order in which the courier runs that day. You may request a quicker arrival time by emailing or calling 706-864-1634. If there are no conflicting requests, we will do our best to accommodate you.
