When should my inter-campus mail be ready for it to go today?
The answer depends on how your mail gets to Postal Services. If you bring your mail to a central mail location, then the times below apply. If your mail is picked up, please follow the times that are relevant to your building/location. Remember that these times only apply to inter-campus mail. Please see the Outgoing Off-Campus Mail tab for information about mail that needs postage.
Please check with your on-campus office administrators or postal clerks for specific times. You can ask questions about your route time to postoffice@ung.edu and your question will be re-routed to the appropriate location.

You must inform the Post Office to get the proper documentation if your mail meets one or more of the following criteria:
All mail that needs postage placed on it must be in the Post Office no later than 3:00 p.m. Mon-Thurs and 1:00 p.m. on Fridays to be mailed on the same day, with a completed Postage Form and include other completed forms if necessary.
Please note that the times listed are for the mail to be in the Post Office. If you have your mail picked up, you must use the route times instead. Each department and building has different times, so please email postoffice@ung.edu to confirm those times. If you miss the route time, you will have to bring the mail directly to Postal Services.

Dahlonega USPS packages arrive in the UNG Post Office and are either delivered to your office or are picked up by an office administrator, depending on your department. Please call us at 706-864-1634 or emailpostoffice@ung.edu
Please be reminded that personal items may not be mailed to the university.
Parcels coming to the university through USPS are picked up by our postal clerks at the post office. Depending on the set up of your department, that may mean you pick it up here at the office. FedEx and UPS are dropped off in Logistical Services, then delivered to you.
You can determine the carrier by looking at the tracking number. The carrier determines which department receives it (see question above). If your tracking number starts with a “1Z,” then it is UPS. If it starts with a "9," then it is USPS. Any other number could be USPS, FedEx or DHL.
This chart was created in an effort to help you better estimate how long your mail should take to get from campus to campus.
*Please note that all of these are estimates and are based on the mail arriving to our Dahlonega or Gainesville central offices before the relevant routes occur.
All on-campus deliveries are not estimated, as times are typically same day, but that varies widely based on your department and the campus delivery schedule.
*Blue Ridge - Assuming outgoing mail placed in outgoing mail by Wednesday before 11 a.m.
**Due to the nature of the Cumming/Dahlonega/Gainesville route, the number of days depend upon the order in which the courier runs that day. You may request a quicker arrival time by emailing postoffice@ung.edu or calling 706-864-1634. If there are no conflicting requests, we will do our best to accommodate you.
Yes, the purchasing department prefers that the blue envelopes are used for P-Card statements. The blue envelopes should be returned to each department. If you are in need of a blue envelope, please contact Purchasing. A standard envelope will suffice if a blue envelope is not readily available.
We have packing tape, labels and markers. We also have an assortment of flat rate USPS boxes. However, we have a limited supply of used boxes that we try to recycle by offering them to customers.
We take all prepaid parcels from USPS, UPS, and FedEx. Any letters with a stamp can be dropped off in the mail slots next to the front window. We also sell postage if you need it, but we take cash or check only.
