2.5 Third Party Logos, Partner Recognition and Links

The University of North Georgia (UNG) partners with many educational, government, non-profit and commercial organizations to support our institutional mission and advance opportunities for our students. However, paid advertising for the purpose of promoting non-university products or services is not allowed on official or unofficial UNG websites. Payment may not be accepted specifically for the placement of partner logos and/or links on university websites.

Partner Recognition

All partner recognition, placed on and/or otherwise affiliated with any University of North Georgia web property shall comply with the following general guidelines and restrictions:

  • Partner logos should not be added to a unit’s home page. The logos must reside on a second level page in the site. This keeps our unit home pages as clean as possible and focused on our brand, not others.
  • Pages must not link to third-party websites for commercial purposes. Third-party websites cannot advertise on our site for a fee, or exchange something of value to have a link.
  • Pages advertising campus events with corporate sponsors may include event sponsor logos. Links to the webpages of corporate sponsors must not convey any actual or perceived endorsement of the sponsoring company or product.
  • All approved partner recognition on a university website will consist of text and/or the sponsor’s logo, which may include a link to the partner’s home page. Recognition should not promote specific products and/or services of the sponsor.
  • Any partner’s home page to which an end-user clicks through must allow the site visitor to return to the university webpage without trace of any frames and/or pop-up advertising that originates from the partner’s home page.
  • If a logo from an outside organization needs to appear on a UNG web page, the content coordinator of that page has the responsibility of ensuring that all applicable guidelines provided by the logo owner are respected. If you cannot find applicable guidelines, contact the logo owner.

Exceptions

  • Logos for accrediting bodies or other educational agencies.
  • Web-based service providers with whom the University has a contractual obligation (e.g., D2L).
  • Not-for-profit agencies (e.g., NSF) that are supporting or partnering with a particular unit or program.
  • Entities operating under contract to support specific units or programs such as Athletics, University Bookstore.

Linking to Third-Party Websites

Links from a UNG page to any non-university site must not imply university endorsement of the site’s products or services. A disclaimer must be included unless it is clear from the context that UNG does not endorse the product or service.

The disclaimer is: Links on these pages to non-UNG sites do not represent endorsement by the University of North Georgia or its affiliates.

UNG welcomes links to its website for educational or informational purposes, but the link must not imply affiliation with or endorsement by the University of North Georgia.

At the University of North Georgia, we deeply value and uphold the cherished right of every American to freely express themselves. It is a hallmark of our history, our tradition, and permeates our culture. As a distinguished Senior Military College, with a legacy spanning over 150 years, we take great pride in our role of cultivating leaders who tirelessly defend these fundamental freedoms for all citizens.  The legacy of our graduates in this regard is second to none.

As campus leaders, our primary responsibility is to cultivate an academic environment that ensures this exchange of ideas and the safety of our community. Across all five campuses, we are committed to fostering a welcoming atmosphere where individuals feel empowered to freely express themselves and engage in exploration and learning. However, it is essential that these rights are exercised in a manner that upholds our academic mission, preserves the safety of all, and is in accordance with our institutional policies, without unlawful behavior. This means breaking the law, harassment, intimidation, trespassing, violence, and other criminal acts will not be tolerated at the University of North Georgia.

Together, let's uphold the principles of respect, understanding, and civility as we equip our students to walk toward their purpose.

Bold Forward!
