    ID Card Photo Submission

    Photo Submission Criteria

    • Take a new photo.
    • Make sure it is a clear, good-quality photo.
    • Use good lighting. Photos that are dark, overexposed, or show glare on glasses will not be accepted.
    • Needs to have a plain, solid white, off-white or light blue background. (NO patterns, textures, or scenic backgrounds)
    • Centered, full face view with a neutral facial expression or a natural smile.

    Note: Online Photo Submission for new terms will not be available until the below dates.

    Semester Availability
    Summer mid - April
    Fall mid - May
    Spring mid - October

    Important

    Attending orientation? Photos must be submitted three days prior to your orientation date.

    You will be notified via email within two business days if your photo was accepted or rejected.

    How Do I Submit My Photo?

    Step One: Be sure your photo meets the guidelines.
    Step Two: Log in to your Transact accountnew window using your UNG credentials. (Do not add the @ung.edu to your username.)
    Step Three: Select "profile" from your account main screen.
    Step Four: Choose "Submit a New Photo."
    Step Five: Choose either the .JPG or .PNG file format and upload your photo.
    Step Six: Review your photo to make sure it meets the guidelines and choose "Submit & Sign Out."

    How Do I Receive My ID Card?

    I will attend orientation -This year we are not giving cards out at orientation. Residents students who submitted a photo online before August 6 will pick their card up at their dorm on move-in. Commuters may come to card services at any time to pick up their card.
    I will not attend orientation - Your ID can be requested at any Card Services location. You will need to bring a Photo ID to pick up your Nighthawks Card. There may be a charge for a replacement ID card of $25.00.
    I am a Blue Ridge student - After you have received the approval email that the photo was accepted you must contact Dahlonega Card Services via email and request your Nighthawks card be printed and mailed to the Blue Ridge campus. Inter-campus mail is only delivered once a week. Please plan accordingly. Dahlonega Card Services will respond to the request to let you know when your card has been mailed and the estimated arrival date to the Blue Ridge campus. 
    Pick up your card from the Blue Ridge Campus Information Desk, you will need to sign a Nighthawks Card Agreement and bring a school, state, or federal photo ID for verification. There may be $25.00 fee if it is a replacement card.

    Does Your Photo Meet the Guidelines?

    Do

    • Use a color photo in a jpg format
    • Make sure your eyes are open and visible
    • Crop the photo to leave room above your head and include both shoulders in the photo

    Examples of photos that will be approved.

    Don't

    • Group photos or pictures with pets
    • Sunglasses, hats or anything that obstructs the face
    • Tilted heads, selfies, and glamour shots
    • Comical photos or photos with gestures
    • Backgrounds that are not plain/solid white, off-white or light blue
    • Low-quality or dark images
    • Social media filters

    Examples of photos that will not be approved.

    *Photos that are inappropriate will be reviewed by the Dean of Students. University of North Georgia Card Services reserves the right to refuse any photos that do not meet these requirements. Failure to adhere to photo submission guidelines is subject to appropriate University action as deemed necessary.

    Photo Tips

    1. If you have a problem submitting a photo cropped from a larger photo, you may need to retake your photo in a smaller size or use a different photo editing tool.
    2. If you are having background issues, make sure you are using a plain, solid white, off-white or light blue wall. Doors or walls with paneling will not be accepted. Try using poster board as a background option.
    3. Photos taken with a cell phone may require better lighting.
