    WLA Volunteers

Volunteer at the World Language Academy

Native Spanish speakers and advanced students of Spanish enrolled at UNG can gain valuable experience, build their résumés and/or earn Service Learning credits by volunteering at the World Language Academy at Chestnut Mountain. Located four miles from UNG ’s Gainesville campus, the public charter elementary school employs a “dual-immersion” approach, in which the curriculum is taught in English and Spanish. UNG students volunteer as readers, tutors and mentors for WLA students.

Students from any academic discipline are encouraged to volunteer. Students volunteer on a weekly basis at times that match their schedules and meet the WLA’s needs. The WLA Volunteer Program represents a joint effort by the Department of English and Foreign Languages, the ESL Department, and Goizueta Scholars to offer first-hand educational and service experience to  UNG students.

Interested students should contact Professor Dorina Apahidean at dorina.apahidean@ung.edu .

    Voluntariado en World Language Academy
