    Spanish & Portuguese

    As the number of Spanish and Portuguese speakers grow, in the U.S. and throughout the world, our ability to clearly communicate with them and understand their cultures through business, trade, services, communities, etc. becomes vital. Learning Spanish and Portuguese connects you to them and develops mutual understanding. It opens doors and gives you a new perspective on the world.

    The Department of Spanish & Portuguese offers programs of excellence to develop linguistic proficiency and cultural competencies in Spanish and Portuguese.

    Students develop not only their language skills, but they also study the literature, linguistics, and culture of the Spanish and Portuguese speaking world, as well as language for the professions. Our program of study allows students to focus on developing knowledge for future opportunities in the Spanish and Portuguese speaking world, be in business, government, public health, or other.
