3.8.3 Uniform Online Course Roll Verification Procedure (Undergraduate Courses only)

Summary

Online courses, (Undergraduate courses only) will use a Mandatory Attendance Quiz AND an Introduction Discussion Post (Login Required) as the standard roll verification instrument for all online courses.

Justification

The purpose of the roll verification activities is to prevent future problems associated with tuition refunds, federal financial aid relative to Title IV refunding rules, and issuance of grades of "NR" (not reported), "W", "WF" or "F" for students who never attended online class.  When there is one uniform method used to complete attendance verification, we can provide more clear instructions that are consistent and correct across all online courses.

Methodology

The Mandatory Attendance Quiz AND Introduction Discussion Post (Login Required) will be due 72 hours after the end of the Add/Drop period (typically the Wednesday of the week following add/drop).

  1. A uniform due date allows last-minute enrolled students to complete the activities.
  2. This allows instructors to perform roll verification before the roll verification deadline.
