Requirements and Application Process

What is Required to Participate in the Program?

  • Be an incoming, degree-seeking, freshman student with a declared major in criminal justice.
  • Be a United States citizen.
  • Opt in to the Public Safety Academy program and complete an application (see below).
  • Be willing to complete additional training, field lab experiences, and periodic written exams.
  • Pass a physical exam.
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA in the major for the duration of the program.
  • Pass a criminal background check and driver's history report.
  • Pass an entrance examination.

How Do I Enroll in the Program?

  • Complete an application and pay the program fee.
  • Provide a certified copy of a birth certificate.
  • Provide a copy of a Social Security card.
  • Provide an official high school diploma and transcript.
  • Provide a copy of a valid driver's license.
  • Provide transcripts from any other universities attended, if applicable.
  • Provide a certified copy of a DD-214, if applicable.
  • Sign a liability waiver.
