    New Account Activation

    Welcome to UNG!

The first time you log in to a UNG system, you will be prompted to change your temporary password. The temporary password is assigned to you by IT and must be changed before you can successfully log on to any system or computer at UNG.

    Got Questions?

If you have any issues or need more information, contact Information Technology.

    1. Start by going to https://auth.ung.edu and enter your UNG username (email address) and the temporary password assigned by IT.

      • Select "Sign in"

    2. Once you have logged in with the temporary password, you will be prompted with a message that the password has expired, and you need to create a new one.

      1. Using the requirements listed on the prompt, create your new UNG account password.
      2. Re-enter the password you just created to ensure the password is typed correctly.
      3. Select Change Password.

    3. Now that you have successfully created your UNG account password, you will be prompted to set up additional security methods, referred to as two-factor authentication (2FA), to help protect your account.

    4. Select Duo Security and follow the prompts to enroll.

    6. Select a device to receive your second factor authentication prompt. You can choose from the list provided. The most common and recommended factor is mobile phone.

    7. Once you’ve selected your factor, click “Continue”.

    8. Enter the mobile phone number here. Be sure to include the area code.

    9. Once the number is entered, you will receive a prompt to verify ownership of the number being used for your second factor authentication source. Select “Call me” or “Text me” to receive a verification code. When the six-digit code has been delivered, enter it in the field for verification.

    10. The final 2FA prompt will ask you to confirm the type of device being used. Once confirmed, select “Continue”.

    11. Install Duo Mobile or continue to the next prompts if you already have Duo Mobile installed.

    12. Now that you’ve enrolled in 2FA, select which method you’d like your 2FA verification to be delivered.

      • "Send Me a Push" - Delivers a push notification to your mobile device. Requires the Duo app to receive a push notification.
      • "Call Me" - Sends a call and a code is delivered via speech once the call is answered.
      • "Enter a Passcode" - Requires the Duo app to generate a one-time use passcode.
      • Note: This is the prompt you’ll normally see when logging in to UNG systems.
