IT Success Guide for Students, Faculty & Staff

    Accounts, Access & Security

Your UNG University username and password are key to accessing many of the resources the Office of Information Technology provides. Protect your identity by protecting your password.

    • Don't share your username and password with anyone
    • Choose a long, strong password (use upper/lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters)
    • Don't use personal info like your username, pet's name, phone number, or date of birth in your password

When you activated your account you should have set up security questions so you can reset your own password within the password portal. If you need help with your password, contact the IT Service Desk.

    2-Factor authentication with Duo Security

2FA, or two-factor authentication, is a second layer of security on your password protected accounts. Many of your personal accounts use 2FA already! Ever enter your password on your bank's website or even Twitter and been asked to verify your identity by entering a code that was sent to your phone? That's 2FA.

2FA will ask for confirmation of your identity (apart from your password) using a physical device. That device can be your phone, a tablet, a landline phone or token device.

DUO is the tool UNG is using to provide 2FA. More questions about DUO? Check out our 2FA page with helpful DUO information.

    myUNG

myUNG is where students connect to almost all online resources. A link to myUNG is located at the top right of the UNG site under Quicklinks, or you can go directly to my.ung.edu.

    UNG D2L eLearning Portal

Instructors use D2L to deliver course material, host discussion threads and chat rooms, post quizzes and grades, and receive assignments electronically. Support for D2L/eLearning is provided by our Distance Education Technology Integration Team (DETI) and can be found on the DETI page.

eCore, or goVIEW, is a program of the university system in which affiliate institutions offer general education courses to students in an online setting. eCore is supported by DETI and the University System of Georgia.
