Database Spotlight

C-SPAN

C-SPAN is a public service created by the American Cable Television Industry. It provides video access to the US Senate and House of Representatives, both live coverage and archival footage is freely available. In addition to the unedited live coverage of Congressional proceedings, C-SPAN also provides call-in programming giving viewers direct access to elected officials, key policymakers and journalists. The Supreme Court does not currently allow video access to their proceedings however audio recordings are available at the conclusion of hearings. C-SPAN viewers also have access to all of the White House Daily Briefings. Live content is at the core of C-SPAN content, though they also have a number of series on books, history and free video-based materials for social studies teachers called, C-SPAN Classroom.
