    Admission Policy

    Bachelor's degree seeking students may declare a business major at any point and meet the following admission requirements prior to enrolling in any advanced 3000/4000 level course:

    Earned a grade of C or higher in each of the following courses:​

    • ACCT 2101, ACCT 2102, ECON 2105, ECON 2106 and​
    • Math requirement (MATH 2040 for BBA or MATH 1401 for BAS in Technology Management)
    • Completed a minimum of 40 hours

    Meet at least one of the following GPA requirements:​​

    • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
    • GPA of 2.75 or higher based on the ACCT, ECON and MATH courses required for admission

    Students admitted to the University of North Georgia summer 2016 or earlier will be held to the standards for enrollment published in the 2015/2016 Catalog. BS in Computer Science students will be considered as non-business programs.

    • 3000/4000 Course Restrictions

      Enrollment in most 3000 and 4000 level accounting (ACCT), business administration (BUSA), computer information systems (CIS), Finance (FINC), management (MGMT) and marketing (MKTG) courses in the Mike Cottrell College of Business will be restricted beyond prerequisites. The only exceptions are:

      Course Prerequisites Effective Fall 2017
      (C or better in each course)
      ACCT 3310 Intermediate Accounting I ACCT 2101, ACCT 2102, ECON 2105, ECON 2106 and pre- or co-rec of FINC 3440
      BUSA 3108 Managerial and Business Communication ACCT 2101 and (ECON 2105 or ECON 2106)
      CIS 3130 Business Information Systems ACCT 2101, CIS 2201 and (ECON 2105 or ECON 2106)
      FINC 3440 Principles of Finance ACCT 2101 and ECON 2106
      MGMT 3661 Fundamentals of Management ACCT 2101 and (ECON 2105 or ECON 2106)
      MKTG 3700 Principles of Marketing ACCT 2101 and (ECON 2105 or ECON 2106)

      Registration for all other 3000/4000 ACCT, BUSA, CIS, FINC, MGMT and MKTG level courses will be limited to students in BBA majors or the BAS in Technology Management who meet the specific admission criteria outlined above. In addition, if a specific advanced business course is required and approved by the Mike Cottrell College of Business in a non-business program, students in those programs will need to seek an override for the course once they have met all of the admission course requirements that are included in their degree program. Course pre-requisites and admission policies are described in the current UNG Undergraduate Catalog.
