What Your Journey as a Marketing Major Could Look Like

    Your First Year

All UNG students take the same core curriculum the first year of college. While there is some flexibility with the courses you can choose, certain required areas have to be fulfilled. This is the year to think about your curriculum options and discuss with faculty members and professional advisors.

    Sophomore Year

As you finish your core classes, you'll begin exploring courses in the business program that will be required to complete your marketing degree. These courses include accounting, economics, business law, and computer information systems courses.

Get involved and meet people who love marketing like you! Consider joing the UNG Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA). Learn more about student organizations for business majors.

    Junior Year

Now you'll be almost fully immersed in your business major classes. You'll continue with your business courses, known as the B.B.A. Common Professional Component, where you'll be exposed to all aspects of business - finance, marketing, statistics, operations, info systems, and international business. As a marketing major, you'll start taking your foundational courses in this area.

This is also the year to consider internships. Students can complete up to two internships that can count as credit courses toward your degree.

    Senior Year

During this year, you'll enroll in experiential marketing courses and engage in the concentration of choice – digital marketing, professional selling, or general marketing. You'll begin to interact with companies and clients as part of your course work and internships. You'll also be involved in professional development activities that train you on soft skills so you can excel in interviews and networking in order to be market ready and successfully land a great job.
