Overview
María Guadalupe Calatayud is an Associate Professor of Spanish at the University of North Georgia, where she has taught since 2007.
She holds a Ph.D. in Hispanic Literature from Florida State University, with a dissertation on the politics of fantasy in the work of Mexican women artists.
Her research focuses on gender, violence, fantasy, and Latin American cultural production, and she has published widely in peer‑reviewed journals, encyclopedias, and edited volumes.
She is the author of Breve antología de la literatura mexicana y chicana (University Press of North Georgia, 2013/2014).
Calatayud has presented her work at international conferences across the Americas and Europe, including in Spain, Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, and Uruguay. She has extensive experience teaching courses in literature, gender studies, cinema, and Spanish language.
