Overview

Dr. Joe Chapman is an active concert pianist who has performed hundreds of solo recitals for arts associations, colleges, schools, and churches throughout the state of Georgia. He holds degrees in piano performance from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and the University of South Carolina.  As the founder and director of the university’s ever-popular annual All American Piano Celebration, he has brought hundreds of pianists, ranging from beginners to concert artists, to the UNG-Dahlonega campus for the purpose of promoting our indigenous American music. In 2023, he was named Teacher of the Year by the Georgia Music Teachers Association.

Dr. Chapman is the senior faculty member at the University of North Georgia, having joined the faculty in 1983. In addition to his responsibilities at UNG, he has served the music profession through leadership in various professional music organizations and service as pianist and choir director in several local churches and community groups.
