with UNG Faculty member, Dr. Adam Frey including a number of premieres and celebrate the coming spring

The Forza Trio will present a program celebrating women composers who have made exceptional contributions to the chamber
music repertoire. They will perform Amy Beach's Romance, Jessie Montgomery's Duo for Violin and Cello, and Clara Schumann's
Piano Trio.

Cellist Justin Dougherty presents the complete Suites for Solo Cello by Benjamin Britten, a gripping twentieth-century reimagining of the tradition established by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Bold, dramatic, and architecturally commanding, Britten's Suites transform the solo cello into an operatic voice
of striking intensity: at times lyrical, and at times shadowed and unsettling. Heard as a complete cycle, the
three works create a compelling musical journey that bridges Baroque form and modern expression, offering
audiences a rare opportunity to experience one of the twentieth century's most powerful statements for solo
cello in a single evening

Come celebrate spring with amazing musical performances by our guest artist Jazzie Pigott that will perform
a number of wonderful pieces including her own compositions and the amazing UNG Low Brass Collective in a
spring showcase directed by Adam Frey and Michael Brown.

Dr. Junshi Yang and guest pianist Dr. Ruoyang Xiang for a musical "road trip" that spans continents and genres. This performance
takes the audience on a global tour: from the soulful, Romantic landscapes of Europe with Johannes Brahms, to the atmospheric
cinematic world of Asia through Tan Dun's Hero Sonata, and finally to the vibrant, rhythmic streets of America with Leonard
Bernstein's West Side Story Suite.
We are privileged to be joined by Dr. Ruoyang Xiang, a faculty member at Truman State University. As the final student of the
legendary Menahem Pressler (of the Beaux Arts Trio), Dr. Xiang brings an extraordinary level of sensitivity and tradition to this crosscultural collaboration

The UNG String Band performs a mix of bluegrass classics, original compositions, and songs adapted for
bluegrass band. Come hear this exciting new(ish) ensemble!

"Gypsy, Lyric, and Fire: Piano Trios across Europe" traces the evolution of the piano trio from Haydn's classical brilliance to Smetana's heartfelt Romanticism and Turina's passionate Spanish flair. This concert brings together UNG faculty members Dr. Sanghie Lee and Dr. Junshi Yang with guest artist Dr. Ray Kim, cellist of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, in an evening of expressive and virtuosic chamber music.

The University of North Georgia will present a guest recital by Kaju & Lina Duo, featuring pianists Dr. Kaju Lee and Dr. Lina Lee, on Friday, April 3, at 7:30PM in the Performing Arts Center Lobby on the Gainesville campus. Kaju & Lina Duo was formed after the two pianists met at a conference in Wisconsin, where both were teaching, and quickly discovered a shared artistic vision and love for collaborative music-making. Since their debut in 2024, the duo has been dedicated to exploring a wide range of repertoire for piano four-hands, balancing beloved masterworks with music by underrepresented composers. The show will include selections from Wicked, Shrek, Frozen, Phantom of the Opera, Seussical, The Little Mermaid, Cats, Les Misérables, and more. Students will be featured as an ensemble as well as in solos, duets, and trios. The show runs Thursday and Friday, April 9 & 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Gloria Shott Performance Hall on the Dahlonega campus. This lecture-recital explores how dance traditions from diverse cultures are embodied, stylized, and transmitted through piano
performance. By examining European Baroque court dances, Argentine folk-inspired concert works, American jazz with asymmetrical
meter, and Eastern European additive-meter folk music, the recital investigates the ways rhythmic and physical characteristics of dance
are fixed in piano repertoire.

Junior Recital: Yi (Grace) Jin, piano

Innovative musicians/dancers with a quirky neo-trad soul, Oakland, California-based Evie Ladin & Keith Terry
throw down original folk songs and deep interpretations of old songs, with the kinetic thrill of percussive
dance.
A prolific singer-songwriter, percussive dancer and square dance caller, the polyrhythmic heat of Evie's
clawhammer banjo has been heard from A Prairie Home Companion to Celtic Connections, Lincoln Center to
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. Born and raised on Southern music, from inner city Baltimore to Oakland, she has
taken home ribbons at stringband contests and won awards for albums.
Trained as a jazz drummer, Keith Terry brings tonal percussion to stand-up bass, is a renowned
percussionist/rhythm dancer, the founder of the International Body Music Festival, and a collaborator with a
host of inventive performers from Bobby McFerrin, Tex Williams and Robin Williams, to Turtle Island Quartet,
Charles "Honi" Coles and Bill Irwin.

The Little Mercies have rapidly grown from three friends at the local jam to headlining festivals in two years time. A force to be
reckoned with, their distinct sound has garnered recognition and awards nationally as Official Showcase artists for the Southeastern
Regional Folk Alliance (SERFA) and finalists for the Freshgrass Awards. Known for their powerful vocal harmonies, raging twin
fiddles, and tear-wrenching lyrics, their music promises an authentic, exuberant experience.
Multi-instrumentalist songwriters, Bronwyn Chelette, Shanice Richards, and Rosalee Walsh united through their love of oldtime
music. With individual expertise in bluegrass, reggae, jazz, folk, and classical, their collective sound respects tradition while
blending genre lines. They also believe that music and dance are two sides of one coin. Their alter-ego contra-dance band
combines oldtime melodies with New England stylings.
