Overview

Louis Hajosy joined the faculty of the University of North Georgia (UNG) in 2003 and has since taught numerous sections of MUSC 1100 (Music Appreciation) and MUSC 1410 (American Music). His degrees include a Bachelor of Music from the University of Miami (FL) and a Master of Arts in musicology from the University of Georgia, where he is also a PhD Candidate in musicology. At UNG, Louis has received the Ann Matthews Purdy Outstanding Part-Time Faculty Award (Oconee, 2019) and the Student Organization Advisor of the Year Award (Oconee, 2020), the latter for his work with the University’s Music Club, which received the 2023 Blue and Gold Award for Best Emerging Student Organization. Most recently, Louis coauthored Resonances: Engaging Music in Its Cultural Context (Dahlonega, GA: UNG Press, 2020), an OER Music Appreciation textbook now in use at numerous colleges and universities.
