    Proctored Activity Student Steps

Undergraduate online courses at the University of North Georgia are required to have at least one proctored activity during the semester to verify the identity of students enrolled in the course.

Your instructor may use any of the six methods or a combination of these methods.

    • Instructor Live Proctoring
    • Authorized Testing Centers
    • UNG Testing Centers
    • Respondus LockDown Browser + Monitor
    • Honorlock
    • Examity

    Instructor Live Proctoring

If your instructor is proctoring the exam themselves, you will be given detailed information in your eLearning@UNG (D2L) class. Students not on the instructor's home campus will be expected to travel to their instructor's campus for the proctored activity. At the proctored activity, you must present a photo ID as validation that you are the one who is officially registered for and enrolled in the course.

*No cost is associated with this proctoring method.

For more information, check out the Proctored Activity Resources.

    Authorized Testing Centers

Follow these steps to use a UNG approved testing site:

    1. Review the list of authorized testing centers (requires login) and choose a testing center nearest your location.
    2. Contact your chosen testing center to schedule your proctored activity. Be sure to review your class schedule for dates of the proctored activity.
    3. Contact your instructor with the testing center location, time you are scheduled, and contact person.
    4. Arrive at the testing site at your scheduled time.
    5. The proctor will enter the password for any eLearning@UNG (D2L) exam/quiz.

At the Proctored activity, you must present a photo ID as validation that you are the one who is officially registered for and enrolled in the course.

*A cost is associated with this proctoring method. (Prices and fees are subject to change without notice.)

For more information, check out the Proctored Activity Resources.

    UNG Testing Centers

Instructors may allow you to take your proctored exam at a UNG Testing Center. UNG Testing Centers are located on the Blue Ridge, Dahlonega, Gainesville, and Oconee campuses. You can now also take your proctored exam virtually with the UNG Testing Center.

Please note that personal computers are not permitted in the lab. Also, personal sites may not be accessed during your exam. If your proctored exam is open notes/book, then you must bring a physical copy of the textbook or notes.

Follow these steps to use a UNG Testing Center:

    1. Register and pay for your exam via the UNG Testing Center webpage.
    2. Contact your instructor to notify them that you are using a UNG Testing Center and provide the email address, ungonlinetesting@ung.edu, so they can send the exam information to the testing center.
    3. Call to schedule your appointment with one of the UNG Testing Centers. Be sure to review your class schedule for dates of the proctored activity.

    Respondus LockDown Browser + Monitor

Respondus LockDown Browser + Monitor is used to verify your identity and record video of you as you take your quiz. It uses artificial intelligence to flag anything that may be suspicious (such as leaving the frame, audio and speech, looking off to the side or down too much, etc.).

Follow these steps to use Respondus LockDown Browser + Monitor:

    1. Review the Respondus Quick Start Guide (PDF).
    2. If you’re using a ChromeBook, review the Using a ChromeBook with Respondus LockDown Browser Guide (PDF).
    3. Download and install Respondus LockDown Browser.
    4. Access your quiz in eLearning@UNG (D2L).

*No cost is associated with this proctoring method.

For more information, check out the Proctored Activity Resources.

    Honorlock

Honorlock uses technology, and a human proctor when necessary, to monitor you during an online exam. The proctor ensures the instructor's exam guidelines are followed and will interrupt the session if cheating is suspected.

Follow these steps to use Honorlock:

    1. Review the Honorlock Start Your Exam Guide (PDF) to determine if you meet the technical requirements.
    2. Install the Honorlock Chrome extension on your computer’s Chrome web browser.
    3. Access your quiz in eLearning@UNG (D2L).
    4. Complete the payment process and any other requirements before starting the exam.

*A cost is associated with this proctoring method. (Prices and fees are subject to change without notice.)

For more information, check out the Proctored Activity Resources.

    Examity

Examity is a live online proctoring service that supports a computer or laptop equipped with a webcam and microphone. Students must use the Chrome browser. At the proctored activity, you must present a photo ID as validation that you are the one who is officially registered for and enrolled in the course.

Follow these steps to use Examity:

    1. Review the Examity information, technical requirements and cost (requires login).
    2. Set up your profile on the Examity dashboard to schedule your proctored activity.
    3. Review the Live Proctoring Test-taker Guide (PDF).

*A cost is associated with this proctoring method. (Prices and fees are subject to change without notice.)
