Commencement Speaker Lindell
Once again, PSIA in the Spotlight
The #PSIAfamily did it again! CONGRATULATIONS to Honors Graduate Maddie Lindell on her selection as the student speaker for the College of Arts and Letters commencement ceremony on December 10, 2025.
Maddie followed in the pathway forged by Carlee Blankenship, PS’23 in Dec 2023, and Neva Garrett, PS ’24 and Tracy Amaya, PS ’24 in May and Dec of 2024 respectively.
A Communications major from Conyers, GA, Maddie joined the Department via her minor in Political Science, an addition to her undergraduate education which built upon her Associate's degree with a Political Science Pathway from Georgia State. Our Political Science minor gave her the opportunity to “take higher-level political science classes with the attendant experience in different opportunities” while imparting “a lot of important skills that are invaluable to me.”
In addition to her busy academic schedule, Maddie serves the UNG student population as the Fraternity & Sorority Life Coordinator in UNG’s Center for Student Engagement & Leadership; oversees her “Nighthawk Maddie” Instagram channel as part of her duties as a UNG Social Media Ambassador; and is the outgoing president of Lambda Pi Eta, the Gainesville campus-based communications honor society.
As she prepared for her 10 December time in the spotlight, in Maddie’s own words:
"I'm very grateful to have been given the opportunity to speak. I really wanted to gear my message towards the larger UNG student population and even to parents, family, and alumni, just because we're really all on this journey together. We're all in this together.”
The entire #PSIAfamily wishes all the best for Maddie as she puts her undergraduate years behind her and begins her onward journey!
