inaugural-nighthawk-legacy-award-to-psia-pre-law-major
Members of our #PSIAfamily know full well that campus student engagement is integral to one’s university experience. UNG’s Office of Student Involvement is the prime portal into the variety of programs, services, facilities, and co-curricular experiences that enhance a student’s academic and personal development.
Since student organizations are one of the most important ways for students to make connections on campus, the Office of Student Involvement looked for a means to encourage overall student engagement. Gainesville campus-based students came up with the idea of “gamifying” engagement via a five stage point system. Essentially, students earn engagement points via the official UNG Connect platform across all campuses throughout the academic year. In recognition of the student with the highest point total, the Nighthawk Legacy Award was instituted.
PSIA is proud to announce that senior pre-law major Lauren Nelson, ‘25 is the inaugural winner of this award! Lauren’s drive and initiative went beyond mere participation, as she attended events across multiple campuses and was the first to complete all five stages of the point system. In recognition of her incredible achievements and enthusiasm, at the April 15th ceremony Lauren was notified that not only was she the award recipient, but that the Office of Student Involvement had named the award after her – future recipients would receive the Lauren Nelson Nighthawk Legacy Award!
Congratulations to Lauren on setting a high standard of participation in the myriad campus activities available at UNG, and especially for doing so in such a manner that her name will be synonymous with “student engagement” for years to come.
