    Recruitment and Job Opportunities

    The University of North Georgia Police Department is one of the leading law enforcement agencies in the University System of Georgia. Our department has a unique sense of commitment and a family-oriented work environment. Our selection process is competitive, but rewarding. Officers with our Department perform all law enforcement police duties to include: patrol, traffic enforcement, traffic accident reporting, criminal investigations, and much more. Our Department has our own Communications Center with the ability to monitor radio traffic, alarms, calls for service, and much more.

    Minimum Requirements

    • High School diploma required
    • Valid Georgia Class C driver’s license (for Patrol Officers)
    • Georgia POST Law Enforcement Certification in good standing or ability to receive within one year of employment (for Patrol Officers)
    • Ability to possess GCIC certification and post basic communication officer certification (for Communications Officers)
    • 18 years of age
    • United States Citizen
    • No felony convictions

    Patrol Officers Will Receive

    • Ample Training Opportunities

    • Duty Weapon, Long Gun, Backup Weapon, Less Lethal Options
    • Duty Locations at Five Campus Locations Throughout Northeast GA

    Communication Officer's Job Duties

    • Answering phone calls and emails
    • Dispatching officers on all campuses to calls for service
    • Monitoring alarm/camera systems

    The Hiring Process

    All job opportunities are posted on the UNG Job Board. The hiring process will include the following:

    • Submission of complete application to include documents (Cover Letter, Resume/Curriculum Vitae, References)
    • Interview with a departmental panel
    • Second Interview with Chief of Police
    • Mandatory thorough background check to include a credit check
    • Drug test

    *The University of North Georgia's Human Resources Department will make all notifications if not selected for interview or hiring.
