    Public Safety

    The Public Safety Department is comprised of fully-certified police officers, investigators, dispatchers, and emergency training specialists to maintain a secure, civil, and effective environment for our community to learn and grow.

    Emergency Call Boxes

    What are emergency call boxes?
    Call boxes provide two-way communication between the caller and the UNG Police Communications Center where a trained police dispatcher answers your call.

    Emergency call boxes can be used to report:

    • Any type of emergency situation
    • Suspicious activity
    • To ask for a courtesy escort
    • Any other public safety-related inquiry

    Where are they located?
    They are commonly positioned in parking areas and around student housing buildings. You are encouraged to become familiar with the call box locations on your campus.

    Student Health Services

    Currently attending students have access to basic health care at free or minimal costs. Our on-campus clinics can administer free simple first aid, sutures/stitches, flu shots, flu/strep/mono screening, antibiotics, wart treatment, urinalysis and more.

    Women’s and Men’s Health Clinic

    As most students are leaving their childhood nests, it's important to adopt a serious consideration of their personal well-being. These clinics help educate, monitor, and maintain students' healthy lifestyles.

    Student Health Insurance Policy

    International students, graduate assistants, and those in the DPT program are required to have a ["hard waiver"] health insurance plan. All other students can opt to purchase ["domestic voluntary"] health plans.

    After-Hours Help

    Our Student Health Services are not open 24-hours a day, nor equipped or staffed for every type of emergency. Here is a list of nearby urgent care and emergency room facilities that will be.

    Dean of Students

    Difficult times are made easier with help. The Dean of Students was established so that someone would always be available to listen to individual students and connect them with the resources specifically designed to assist them with their type of hardship.

    Every person is at a different part of the path to emotional mastery. The Stepped Care Model outlines the entire journey so that you can find where you are and where to go next on your own path to emotional well-being.

    Care & Outreach

    Some events in life are sudden and can seemingly derail a student's original plans. Care & Outreach exists to help students balance these challenges with university life in order to guide them back on track.

    Behavioral Intervention Team

    B.I.T. is a cross-departmental, early prevention task force focused on mitigating disruptive or troubling behavior found in members of the university community before it grows too severe.

    Student Counseling

    Textbooks can teach a lot, but they can't hold all the lessons of life. Whenever you feel you need a tutor for those tests outside of school: give a counselor a call to receive the dynamic human insights a textbook can't convey.

    988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline

    988 is the new national phone number for crises of an internal nature. Memorize it and call it whenever you or a friend is in need of personal crisis remediation.

    Groups & Workshops

    There's strength in numbers and warmth in fellowship. Group workshops are designed to bring those in similar situations together so they can support and be supported by one another.

    Togetherall

    An online community who supports one another, safely monitored by licensed and registered mental health practitioners. Free to students and employees across the United States.

    Title IX

    The Title IX Office exists to ensure that no one is: excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity on the basis of sex. If you witness any sexual discrimination or sexual misconduct within the university setting, the Title IX Office wants to know.

    Gruver and Clery Acts

    The Clery and Gruver Acts aim to reassure students and ensure colleges and universities maintain safe environments devoted to the tenets of intellectual progress and civil development.

    Clery Act Resources

    The Campus Security Act (AKA the "Clery Act") mandates public logs of crimes that occur on or near campuses, public methods to report crime, and provide supportive resources for students affected by such crime.

    Max Gruver Act

    The Gruver Act requires any misconduct of student organizations be publicly posted to warn students of legal, reputational, psychological, or physical risks potentially associated with joining such organizations.

    Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs

    Substance Basics

    Students are expected to know and follow the laws regarding alcohol and other substance use. Make sure your future decisions are informed ones: learn the basic facts about these substances' effects, regulations, and where to seek help for quitting and to learn techniques for long-lasting emotional recovery.

    Harm Reduction Strategies

    Alcohol impairs reasoning and judgment, which can lead to regrettable or harmful scenarios. Mental preparation can reduce the possibility of future woe, so memorize these pointers to strengthen your resolve in setting limits for yourself and advising your peers to consider the same.
