Alpha Kappa Delta
Alpha Kappa Delta, the international sociology honor society, seeks to acknowledge and promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology, the research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition.
Chapter Information
The Lambda chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta was instituted at the Dahlonega campus of the University of North Georgia in 2000. Students who meet the eligibility requirements on any of UNG’s campuses are welcome to apply for membership.
Eligibility Requirements for Undergraduate Students
- Must be an officially declared sociology major or demonstrate a serious interest in sociology within the University’s Department of Sociology and Human Services.
- Must be at least a junior (60 or more credit hours).
- Shall rank in the top 35% of their class in general scholarship, or have accumulated the equivalent of an overall grade point average of at least 3.3.
- Must have maintained the equivalent of a 3.0 GPA in sociology courses taken at the University of North Georgia prior to initiation.
- Must have completed at least four regular courses in sociology prior to initiation at the University of North Georgia (exclusive of extension or courses graded pass/fail).
