    Kinesiology major with a Health & Fitness Concentration (B.S.)

    Flexibility is the greatest strength of the Bachelor of Science degree with a kinesiology major and a health and fitness concentration. While preparing students with the theoretical and practical competencies necessary for the health and fitness field, there is the flexibility of 17 elective hours. These hours may be used for graduate school pre-requisites (P.T., O.T., P.A.), business courses in preparation for entrepreneurship, or areas of special interest (i.e. languages, a UNG minor, or military science.)

    Learn More About the Health & Fitness Concentration

    Before admission into the Bachelor of Science degree with a kinesiology major and a health and fitness concentration, it is recommended to declare the major by selecting "General Studies Health & Fitness" in Banner. Once admitted, student's major will change to "Kinesiology/Health & Fitness."

    • Admissions Requirements

      The fall 2023 Application Period will be Monday, September 11, 2023 through Friday, September 22, 2023. Early or late applications will not be considered for admission.

      Student applicants will be notified by email of the outcome. Additionally, students who are offered admission will be required to submit an Acceptance Letter to acknowledge their final decision to pursue the concentration. Instructions for this letter including a specific deadline will be in the email related to the Offer of Admission. Acceptance Letters submitted after the deadline will not be accepted and the student will not be admitted during that current Application Period.

      To be eligible for admission into the Health & Fitness Concentration, a student must meet the following minimum requirements.

      1. Completion of at least 30 semester hours;
      2. A grade point average of 2.50 or better;
      3. Completion of KINS 2100 with a grade of C or higher;
      4. Completion of all Area A courses with a grade of C or higher;
      5. Completion of BIOL 2120K and BIOL 2130K with a grade of C or higher; and
      6. Submission of a completed Health & Fitness Application for Admission during an application period.

    • Graduation Requirements
      The following are the requirements to graduate with a BS in Kinesiology with a Health & Fitness Concentration:
      1. Completion of the required courses for the Kinesiology Major with a Health & Fitness Concentration (B.S.);
      2. Completion of all KINS prefix courses with a grade of “C” or better; and
      3. Overall GPA of 2.50 or better.
      Furthermore, a minimum of 39 hours must be from upper division courses (3000-4000 level).
