    College of Education Requirements

    Policies and requirements for music education majors. If you have questions, contact Dr. Marie Graham.

    2100 courses

    • Must take EDUC 2110 first
      • Background check (www.certifiedbackground.org -  Package code: NB13)
      • Must purchase and maintain active liability insurance through graduation from UNG through one of the following:
        • PAGE (Professional Association of Georgia Educators)
        • GAE (Georgia Association of Educators)
        • AFT (American Federation of Teachers)
    • May take EDUC 2120 and EDUC 2130 concurrently
      • Background checks expire in one year. If expired, must resubmit through www.certifiedbackground.org
      • Liability Insurance must be kept active

    Admission to the College of Education

    • Completion of EDUC 2110, 2120 and 2130 required
    • Admission may be sought in the semester in which the EDUC 2100 courses will be completed
    • Background check processed through your PSC (Professional Standards Commission) Pre-service certification application
    • Ethics Entrance Exam required for application (no score rendered--print confirmation page for application process)

    Internship

    • Passing score on GACE (Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators) Program Admissions Test before internship begins
      • GACE Program Admissions Test must be completed before taking MUED 4280 and 4290
    • Resumes to Tina Payne early in semester prior to internship
    • Pre-Service Certification Application
      • Verification of Lawful Presence

    Application for Certification

    • “Induction” or higher score on GACE Content Exams
      • GACE Content Exams must be completed prior to certification application
      • PSC Ethics Exit Exam passing score, in order to receive “Certificate of Eligibility” and “Induction Tier Teaching Certificate”
