6th Annual Model UN On-Campus Conference

Posted: March 7, 2023 by Orla Fennell

The Dahlonega and Gainesville Model UN clubs organized the 6th annual on-campus conference. This year the on-campus conference was held on the Gainesville campus and students from all majors and campuses participated.

Unlike past iterations, this year's conference only had one committee, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the topic for the conference was ensuring the protection of refugees and displaced people in the aftermath of crises and natural disasters.

The entire conference was student-led and run under the guidance of Drs. Jonathan Miner and Bibek Chand. Twenty-one countries from nearly all regions of the world were represented by students who collaborated with each other to come to a resolution.

The Dias for this conference consisted of the president of the Dahlonega Model UN club, IA major Avery Johnson, the president of the Gainesville Model UN club, political science/pre-law major Nathaneal Hines, as well as IA major Jessica Case and alum Patrick Charles.

If you are interested in participating in the MUN Club either in Dahlonega or Gainesville, you can follow the Dahlonega and Gainesville clubs on Instagram on: DAH Club — https://www.instagram.com/model_ungdah/ GVL Club —https://www.instagram.com/modelungvl/ You can also contact either Drs. Miner or Chand, as well, for more information.
