Overview
James (Jim) Chapman holds an MFA in Studio Art from Georgia State University. He has worked professionally as a Newspaper Illustrator, Graphic Designer, and Presentation Editor at sites like The Tennessean, in Nashville, TN, and The Times, in Gainesville, GA. He also served as Planetarium Artist at the Adventure Science Center in Nashville, TN. Later, he engaged in marketing and website content strategies, and he recently led the creation and implementation of visual arts programming to bring public arts and regular free art classes into governmental public housing to spur critical thinking and inspire neglected neighborhoods. He has won over 50 awards for illustration, graphic design, writing, and community arts projects.
Jim has taught Art and Design at Georgia State University, Brenau University, University of North Georgia, and the University of Georgia’s Studies Abroad Program in Italy, as well as at Kulturschöpfer in Berlin, Germany.
His work has been featured in International Artist magazine, The Artist’s Magazine, Drawing Attention, Watercolor Magic and Georgia Trend.
