    Research Initiatives

    GEOPAths Grant

The GEOPAths project aims to equip high school educators with techniques of Project-Based Learning in the lens of geoscience which have proven both interesting and inclusive to all students regardless of capabilities, language or background. (NSF Grant: 75190)

Get involved in the GEOPAths initiative and the GeoEd workshop!

    Environmental Education

Promotes responsible, sustainable actions in the care and conservation of native forest ecosystems in North Georgia. Students and members of the public will assess water quality, tree health, apply chemicals sustainably, and identify native/invasive species during workshops over the next two years. (EPA Grant: 00D882218)

Developing Georgia's Women Leaders in GIS

Scientific fact is unconcerned about the gender of its discoverers, nonetheless prospective newcomers continue to place unnecessary attention towards their gender when considering science as a career path. This initiative will encourage women already in the geoscience field towards occupying leadership positions in the hopes to improve the general image of the career landscape and persuade a more-balanced influx of future scientists. (NSF Grant: 1660400)

    Applying Geospatial and Engineering Technology

The three primary goals of the AGET project will be to develop 1) courses for an Associate of Science degree pathway in Geospatial Engineering Technology, 2) a certificate for land surveying, and 3) a walk-in lab for students on the Gainesville Campus. (NSF Grant: 1700568)
