Finding Specific Journals and Magazines

Transcript Starts

In this video I will show you how to find journals and magazines.

Let's say your topic is accounting. Using the Browse by Subject tab, click on business and economics, accounting, and then select the Journals and Magazines subtab.

So the path is: Browse by subject, business and economics, accounting, and then journals and magazines.

Then click on the "view all journals in accounting and auditing." We are now taken to a list of all journals available on this subject. When you select a journal, you will be taken to a find-it menu, where databases that offer this journal are listed.

As you can see, this journal is available in Business Source Complete. Click on the database name and you'll be taken to the public page for this journal where you can do the following: you can search within this publication, you can view a holding statement to see which publication dates have full text for this journal, or browse all the journal's articles by year, volume, and issue.

Let's now look at exploring content from the starting point of a known journal title.

Under journals A to Z we will search the journal title "Advances in Macroeconomics." If you only know a portion of the title, select "starts with" or "contains." You can also browse an alphabetical list of journal titles, but since we know the exact name of the journal, select "exact match."

Since we have an exact match for this journal title, we were taken directly to the find-it menu where databases that offer this journal are listed. In this case the title is available in business source complete. Click on the database name and you'll be taken to the publication page for this journal.

Like a journal found in your library, you can browse its content by search within the publication or browse the journal by year, volume, and issue.

I hope this video was helpful to you and if you have any questions for us, please contact us using the "contact us" form on the Galileo home page.
