UNG Students Eligible to Participate

  • Dual enrolled/MOWR
  • ROTC/Cadet
  • Civilian
  • Non-traditional

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3.25 overall GPA
  • Accepted into a UNG bachelor's degree program
  • Enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, first year Chinese language courses (1001 and 1002)

How to Apply

Eligible students interested in pursuing the 5-year Chines Flagship Program, should complete the Novice Track application to request admission to the program.

Program Levels

Level Check List Application

Novice Track

  • Courses: CHIN 1001-2004
  • When: Freshman - Sophomore years
  • Proficiency goal: Intermediate Mid / 1+
  • Overall GPA of 3.25 or higher
  • Accepted into a UNG bachelor's degree program
  • Enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, first year Chinese language courses (1001 & 1002)

Novice Track Application

Advanced Track

  • Courses: Typically CHIN 3001 and up
  • When: Sophomore - Junior years
  • Proficiency goal: Intermediate High or Advanced Low or 1+ to 2
  • Maintain an overall GPA of 3.25, and a Chinese GPA of 3.75 or higher
  • Completion of Chinese courses up to the intermediate level (CHIN 2004)
  • Achieve an intermediate-mid level in the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI)
  • Commit to enroll in the appropriate Chinese language and culture courses to prepare for the overseas capstone experience.
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to become fluent in Chinese and use Chinese in your future career.

Advanced Track Application (login required)

Capstone Applicant

  • Courses: Specialized capstone prep in Chinese
  • When: Senior year
  • Proficiency goal: Advanced Low to High or 2 to 2+
  • Advanced-level proficiency in Chinese equivalent to Level 2 on the ILR scale
  • Completed capstone requirements (available on the application)
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required
  • Registered at one of the 12 domestic Chinese Flagship Program granted universities
