Students are encouraged to pursue summer domestic and study abroad programs to facilitate acquisition and to prevent gaps in language exposure. Students are required to participate in at least one Flagship approved summer study abroad programs prior to applying for their Capstone year.

Committed Chinese Flagship students will apply to attend Capstone, the fifth academic year, at The Language Flagship center in either Nanjing, China or Taipei, Taiwan. During the first semester in China, students take courses taught in the Chinese language. During the second semester, students participate in an internship in a Chinese business or government entity related to their major area of study.

After completing the Capstone year in China, students return to UNG to receive their bachelor's degree.
Eligible ROTC Cadets then commission as second lieutenants.
Civilian students, graduate as excellent candidates for a variety of federal government or private sector positions.
