Clifton teaches a wide variety of digital arts courses, covering everything from traditional two-dimensional animation and digital illustration to three-dimensional modeling, texturing, animation, and virtual reality. He is also the faculty advisor for the Game Development Club and he mentors students who complete their senior capstone exhibition in digital arts each semester. He is a well-respected educator often praised by his students.
Clifton first started three-D modeling and creating digital artwork in the early 1990's. He finished his B.F.A. in three years and his M.F.A. in two after working for Microsoft between degrees. He taught college-level digital art at Western Piedmont Community College in North Carolina for ten years before coming to the University of North Georgia in 2016.
