Georgia recognizes valid driver licenses issued to and held by residents of other countries as long as the "Out Of Country" license is valid (not expired). Generally, you may drive in Georgia for up to one year on a valid foreign or International license. You do not need to apply for a Georgia license unless you become a resident of Georgia. If you choose to become a resident, you must meet the requirements for Identity, Citizenship and Residency.
It is critical to remember that all documents must be in English.

By law you are required to have car insurance. Once you have purchased car insurance, you must keep proof of your insurance in your vehicle. For more information about purchasing car insurance in Georgia, visit the Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner website. You can also do an internet search for insurance providers and compare rates. You must have car insurance in order to register your vehicle.
If you decide to purchase your own vehicle, you must pay to register your vehicle. You will have to renew your registration each year.
