You should bring whatever items will make you feel most at home in your residence hall room. There are a few items not allowed such as toasters and candles. Please refer to the particular residence hall's web page.
We ask that you make every effort to work things out with your roommate but if you cannot, there are a couple of times during the year which you can change rooms. Your RA is also available as a neutral source for help.
Safety rails are available at no cost from the Office of Residence Life. Safety rails are issued when beds are bunked and are available from each residence hall desk for non-bunked beds upon student request.
You are allowed to bring any additional furniture that you deem necessary (book shelves, extra single mattress) except for lofts or other devices that raise furniture. You are not allowed to remove any furniture from your room.
All residents in traditional residence halls and suite-style residence halls are required to purchase a 10, 15, or Unlimited Meal Plan. Residents in Owen Hall are not required to purchase a meal plan.
The Traditional Residence Halls close between semesters and for Fall and Spring breaks. NG Suites is open continuously from mid-August to May. Owen Hall is open continuously from mid-August through July. You should plan in advance and make other housing arrangement during these times.
When medical treatment is needed after Student Health hours or during weekends, Northeast Georgia Medical Center Lumpkin provides emergency services 24/7/365. Additionally, Urgent Care Dahlonega is located at 73 Maxwell Lane in Dahlonega and is open until 8 pm, 7 days per week.
